Anyone else notice this similarity between bad managers and bad college professors?

Hey all, here’s something I’ve been recently thinking about and wanted to see if anyone else can relate. When I was in college, there were two types of professors. Professor #1 didn’t have particular attendance requirements or bullshit assignments to make sure you’re in class that day. You went to their class because you to needed in order to pass, and more often than not they were intellectually stimulating and treated you with respect. I had plenty of Professor #1s that I looked forward to their class every week with anticipation. On the other hand, professor #2 had stupid attendance rules on their syllabus such as “if you miss more than two classes in a semester I’ll drop you down a letter grade.” All the professor #2s I had were shitty teachers who were unable to use up a class time in a productive way so they had to resort…

I’ve also noticed this with managers I’ve had. The shitty ones micromanage and threaten you because they know the job is awful and refuse to treat you with respect. The decent managers try not to waste your time with nonsense, let you work from home if possible, and offer a comfortable work environment.

Tldr: professors with attendance policies mirror shitty managers that threaten you to get you to do shit for them.
