This post is in response to many comments I saw on a recently locked post. I saw a lot of people making the “don't muddy the waters” argument, which is classic crypto-fascist rhetoric. The goal of this argument is get people to be reluctant to call out fascism and Nazism when they see it. Don't fall it. This is a form of Strategy #3 – Pedantry.
So what do you do when you spot a crypto-fascist in this sub? Just reply “I see you” to their comment, and link this video to the text. Take away their power by letting them know we see through their bullshit.
Of course, not everyone making this argument is actually a fascist. They could just be a gullible Centrist. Don't let that stop you from calling it out. The worst that could happen is you spread awareness of how crypto-fascists operate. Don't be afraid to muddy the waters.
