Antiwork

Finally decided it was too toxic.

I’ve been working at a hotel for a little while now. At first i liked it because it was a chill hotel that wasn’t super busy. Sometimes we had sketchy guests, but that’s all hotels. Then, my manager asked that i try working an overnight shift. Granted, i’m only making $11 an hour (my states minimum wage) and most night auditors at hotels easily make $15+ an hour in my city. Friday, I finally confronted my manager. I haven’t received a set shift- I usually work 2 overnight shifts a week, 1 afternoon (3pm-11pm,) and 1 or 2 morning shifts (7 AM-3 PM) depending on how busy well be that week. After finally asking to stop working overnights or at least get a set schedule so i could sleep like a normal human, my manager tells me she can’t give me a set shift because she just gave a new hire a set shift and it was the only one left. A day later, my wife finds my exact position at the exact same hotel posted on indeed for $12-13.50 an hour. I text my manager tonight and ask if she can pay me that rate, with a screenshot. She doesn’t reply. I call her, her husband, the owner picks up. He gets her on the phone and she tells me “this isn’t how you’re going to do this. we’ll discuss in the morning” (expecting me to work overnight tonight with minimum wage)
“No thanks. I quit. Bye.”
I know my worth.
