Advice needed regarding tip jar at work.

I work part-time as a cashier at a small butcher shop. It’s a good job, and I like my boss and my coworkers. I generally have no issues, except for one thing that irks me… There is a jar next to the register. It’s got a picture of a saint on it (the owners are Italian and catholic). I thought that this was a tip jar for our deli guys, but I just realised that it not a tip jar. It is a donation jar for the local church. Now, we all make decent full wages (full time also has benefits), so none of us really need tips to get by, nor would I really consider this wage theft. I’ve been trying to tell customers that we encourage you to just hand tips directly to the deli guys, but I know that not everyone has that kind of social energy. I’m also not sure how to start a conversation with my boss about it.

Any advice is appreciated.
