My current workplace is Downsizing and removing nearly 70% of its workforce all of a sudden. The CEO made a speech yesterday and informed us about this in an online meeting. He is basically firing the most salaried employees and replacing them with freshers in order to reduce costs despite their experience.
Most of these people have worked here for more than 10-15 years. And they have been given a notice of only 1 month., (But previously if they had to leave they had to serve 3 months notice) . These people have commitments, family and children. one month is literally not enough to get a job in this pandemic.
This whole situation at office has become so depressing even the newer employees are feeling pretty disgusted by this.
In the 40 mins speech the CEO made He didn't even mention a Thank you or appreciation to the people he is “letting go”. Even to the people he has known for years!!
We all have worked extra hours, national holidays and even weekends without asking for extra pay. There was not even an ounce of gratitude in that person. And we all feel stupid to have contributed so much for this company.
The others also have decided to look for a job and leave because this could be us in the future.
I just wanted to rant about how disgusting the employers are.
Capitalists suck!!
