Fired shortly after being out sick

I caught a really bad sinus infection that ended up turning into bronchitis and I was out of work for a good two and a half weeks. It may have even been covid because of how strong it hit me but I had tested negative on two self tests so I’m not entirely sure if it was or not. I was legitimately unable to work physically as I was coughing endlessly no matter how much cough syrup I had taken and it was also hard for me to breathe. I was also unable to work from a mental standpoint as what I was going through made it hard for me to get any amount of good sleep. I had been with the company for 7 months and there were no problems. I was fired shortly after this hiatus for the reason of “cutting hours”, but I’ve got a good hunch…

I was fired shortly after this hiatus for the reason of “cutting hours”, but I’ve got a good hunch and a solid reason to believe that it has at least a little something to do with how much work I was missing. The guy who runs things has a big pet peeve of people not showing up.

Since I was sick I know that this termination is illegal in theory, but I do not have any tangible evidence, only the fact that there were no problems before the incident, and then suddenly being fired after.

Do I have any legal recourse whatsoever to sue the company for wrongful termination or should I just let it go and spend my time and energy and focus on getting another job?

Thanks for any advice given
