I’ve never had to do one in my 15 year career until last night. I’m a senior level executive (love this movement BTW) and believe they are a waste of time for the candidates and the companies.
I was presented an amazing position that aligned with my career goals and salary expectations in an industry I love. Ofcourse the first phone screen went amazing, they reached out to me after all.
Next steps…do this 2 hr assessment.

I thought long and hard if I wanted to spend my valuable time on this but was encouraged to. So I did. And what a complete bullshit test it was.
Timed sections with analogies, algebra, scenarios, word definitions…words I’ve never seen in my life like in that kid spelling bee type stuff. It said not to cheat but I was on my phone googling wasting precious seconds cause yolo.
Then at the end a 100 question personality not timed section. My favorite question that made me think of this sub:
How would you rather be paid?
A) a steady salary or hourly wage
B) your worth to the company
What the fuck is that. Both? Neither?
I’m pretty sure I failed that; hardest test I’ve taken since some advanced classes in college. All to get a job that I am really qualified for and have amazing credentials for. I went to bed angry and now woke up angry thinking about it. And I wasted my evening not spending it with my significant other.
