I'm not sure how it started but me and my co worker got I to a debate about hours and family time. I tried to explain how we SHOULD NOT have to work 50-60-70 hours a week to prosper and be comfortable. He proceeded to defensively say that we all should have to and people are getting soft. He believes in a 6 day work week and these beliefs have helped his family grow and be “successful”.
He wouldn't understand my response to that being “I understand that but nobody should HAVE to do that, we should be able to love comfortable on 40 hours and have more time with family because that is time you can't get back” he proceeded to argue against that. Like sorry bro that you aren't ever home and you think that's good.
Also I brought up I'm a firm believer in workers rights and those rights that are protected. I gave him an example of how discussing wage cannot equal a termination to which he responded “oh sucking off the titty” which I'm sure he refers to as the government or something. Not to mention he originally stated that he doesn't believe in them or that they mean anything.
This guy is a super hard-core right wing “I have 300 guns, abortions are bad, people are weak and the world needs to change, people should work as much as they can”. At one point I humbled him stating my father makes 150k a year and works 40 hours a week with plenty of time with family (manager for distribution company) and that company treats their employees well and pays very well with good benefits even for the warehouse workers that enjoy working there. His only response to that was “mhm yeah…..”.
That's it, that's the rant. I hastily typed this out as it's fresh in my mind. This guy is my least favorite co worker so far and I think it's easy to see why. Sorry if this wasn't acceptable. State of Oklahoma btw.
