Ill start off by saying that I am a firm believer in hard work, but for those who dislike working under someone other than themselves I can get behind that and support it 100%.
I work at a place were 95% of my entire days work is spent outside, I run equipment and lift heavy stuff all damn day. Now that is July in Pennsylvania, its wicked hot and humid. Today was just miserable. I had nothing but soaked clothes on from all the sweat. I was becoming fatigued and decided to sit down for about 5 minutes to grab some water and check my phone. The only time ive done that today mind you.
Boss comes in from his air conditioned office he sits in all day and sees me clearly at the point of heat stroke and doesn't say a word. He was discussing something with my warehouse manager. Apparently he said that the only thing he talked about was that he sees me on my phone “constantly” and im always taking breaks.
The audacity he has to even say that shit is astounding. He gets an hour for lunch, we get 30 minutes. He sits in the AC all day and we are outside sweating our dicks off. If he would pay attention to what we are doing all day and maybe see the conditions we work in, he would understand the fucking point of me taking a 5 minute break here and there so i dont die of heat exhaustion… I mean realistically i just wanted to escape the heat for a quick second.
Im debating on bringing this up to him because i just find this whole situation to be way stupider than it seems and i cant stand completely blind leadership. Get it together and act like someone in charge or stay the hell away from the hard workers.
