You can have constant availability or constant productivity, but not both

Anyone else have a job where you have to be constantly ready to help customers, but your boss doesn’t want you to be standing at the desk doing nothing so they assign you tasks on the other side of the building just so you won’t be standing around doing nothing, but then complain that you weren’t at the desk to help customers?
