Need advice: LLC company based in CO, USA

Okay, so my boyfriend has worked for this private construction company since Feb 2022. He typically works 5 days a week, usually 7am-6pm. He makes a base pay of $850/week with no tax deductions, no sick pay accumulation, and gets deducted days if he needs to help me with taking the kids to the dentist, drs, and has even gotten reprimanded for being sick with covid. What I need advice on is this: Colorado has a law that was recently passed saying that all employees are required to accrue sick pay. Apparently my boyfriend is seen as an independent contractor, but that doesn't make sense to me since he works for a company owned by someone else. So I'm wondering why he isn't gaining sick pay?? Also, this new deduction policy that was used to take a day from him wasn't put into writing and was not something he signed…

Also, this new deduction policy that was used to take a day from him wasn't put into writing and was not something he signed for or acknowledged when he first started.

How should I go about this? Is this something that should be reported?
