My husband owns a semi truck, and he has a contract for delivering to stores out of a nearby distribution center. It's a lot for him to unload by himself (40,000 pounds) so I made a job post for him on indeed, for somebody to ride along and help unload.
We were honest in the post about the job, and transparent about the wage and hours ($150 per day which is pretty decent for manual labor in our area). Pay every day.
We got a ton of applications. my phone was ringing off the hook. Hired a guy and he shows up on time even though the truck leaves early in the AM. Works hard, nice guy, eager to learn about the business.
this 'labor shortage' is a bunch of bullshit!!
those 'nobody wants to work' signs should say 'nobody wants to pay'
Keep holding out!! don't take low wages!! don't put up with managers who want to own your whole life!!
