Serious question: Rather than work for the ‘man’, why not start your own business?

This is a genuine question. So many here work under shitty conditions for what they consider a fraction of their real value. Given this, why don't more people work for themselves? You have much more control over your work conditions. You can capture every dime of value you create. Post ACA health insurance is no longer unobtainable for many, and you can even set up your own solo 401k and defer a whopping 25% of your income there up to like 61k. I get the main goal of this sub is to make jobs better, but realistically, the politicians are captured by the capital class. Many of you seem deeply unhappy with your jobs, and I'm just trying to ask a constructive question that one can do within the capitalist system we have today as opposed to waiting for a progressive shift in labor rights that may never come. Disclaimer, I currently work w2, but have been actively researching setting up a part time consulting business and the idea appeals to me more every day.
