For context, I have a co-worker who was written up on Thursday, she signed it and was venting about the write up saying they didn't make the mistakes that led up to the write up.
I was told to never sign a write up, unless they have evidence to support their claim. I.e phone, computer records.
The coworker was written up for making an appointment for someone who we do not accept their insurance. She was told the issue has “already been fixed” and wasn't given any additional information.
The next day my coworker was asked to come back into our manager's office and I noted to them, if they are asked to sign another write up don't do it, if they don't show you any evidence or say they “already fixed it.” She was written up again for something they stated she made a mistake on but “the issue was fixed.” And not shown the mistake they made or anything to show they made a “mistake”.
Our manager then notes she would have to go and speak to our lead physician who owns the practice and then “they would move appropriately after that.” My coworker was terrified, and frustrated she had already signed one write up and then was asked to sign another the very next day for things she had no idea about.
We all know what they are trying to do, they want to fire her. however we are a “at will” state (in the US) and we can be fired for any reason. I don't understand the write up thing with at will employment. If you can fire us for literally anything why write me up? And not show or tell me how to fix this problem?
Of course this issue has shed light to several of us in the practice and four or five, including myself have been seeking employment elsewhere since this started. If any of us make a 'mistake” they will fix it and then write is up. I honestly think the claims my manager has made to my coworker is completely fabricated as I have had this issue before where I messed up but was told later AFTER the issues was supposedly fixed but I was never written up for it. I'm waiting on it though as my manager likes to micromanage, and has enlisted two other employees who report to her about things like: who isnt “working” or on their phone, spending to much time in the restroom.
Sorry about the format, posting on my cell.
