Is it normal to feed under appreciated?

I have been a Sales Manager for a few years now and started to notice that I put a lot into getting new employees up & running, and earning commission quickly. Our Company doesn’t set targets for that stuff right away, which creates frustration at times, so I hate seeing good people walk and time wasted. In the past year, I took two different employees under my guidance and helped them achieve an earning potential even they didn’t think was possible. One of them purchased a $9k engagement ring within 8 months and the other moved out of their parents house. And I didn’t even get a thank you. I know it’s my job as the Leader to build everyone up, and it’s a thankless role. But without my guidance, training, and putting in those hours they’d NEVER make those leaps and bounds. Why does it sting? Anyone else feel like that? Is it normal or am I just being sensitive?
