This is basically a rant so feel free to get this post if you want but I don't know where else to post it I guess . im giving backstory if you want to read it. If not, skip ahead. This year has sucked. Last year, I found out I was pregnant. My boyfriend within 3 days got a better job, I worked till 5 months and couldn't any longer. He worked his ass off, became employee of the month almost every month, won contests, always got high commissions, high customer survey scores, high sales, even customers tipping him up to 100 bucks per job. So yea– good worker. Thought all this gave him security at his job. Skip to February, daughter is born, she goes into NICU 7 days later and almost passes away. She survived by a miracle, and spent 2 months in NICU. He went back to work 2 days after her initial admittance into NICU, when he was sure she was going to survive. Most would have stayed off work but he wanted to make sure we were ready for her when she came home.
Comes home end of March, 2 weeks later, car wreck. 2 weeks later we get a vehicle. That same day, just hours later, his job calls and send a him home early. No idea why. Next day, he's let go. Apparently his company had fkd up with their last insurance company and got dropped, and the new one was threatening to drop them unless they did x y and z. One of those things included letting employees go and he was picked to be one of them. His manager called him and told him he was fighting for his job and that this was coming from way above their heads and his coworkers were fighting for his job because no one could understand why one of their top employees would be let go. Basically let's just say that I have enough evidence to take them to court and I'm reporting illegal practices to the wage and labor department. So basically to be able to keep their insurance they looked at each and every employee and try to find any small things to justify letting someone go. As I said they screwed themselves because the reasons why compared to the evidence I have is not going to look good in court at all oh, and the best part is a week after he was let go the new employee they like keep got into a wreck with their company vehicle so bad that it totaled out which I'm sure look great for their insurance. So that's the background of everything that's gone on. We spent all year preparing for our daughter and for some reason this year has gone to hell.
Now the situation for the title. He was let go at the end of May literally the last day. He just got a job today but of course they failed to mention until after they hired him that he would need a. TWIC card. His card expired in 2020 and he never renewed it because he was working a job that did not require it and he hadn't given it much thought. This job is ready to start him tomorrow for a decent amount of 18 an hour which is survivable. I've literally spent everything to my name to make sure rent and bills are paid for this month and have maybe $20 and a TWIC card is $125. I just don't understand why when someone who works their ass off they end up thrown aside like trash and when you finally find something to support yourself there's a stupid obstacle in the way that of course requires money which obviously if you have not been working for a while you do not have it. This just sucks so badly and I feel like every time things start to go right there's an obstacle in the way that's going to prevent anything good from happening. I understand the importance of having a TWIC card I just hate that this is the obstacle preventing him from starting work at a decent job and getting us back on our feet. Feel like the system is just so f***** up sometimes. Im frustrated.
Thanks for coming to my rant.
