I’m a martial arts instructor/front desk person.
After over a year of commuting with no mileage compensation, shoddy hours, being asked to “volunteer” (work for free.) 6 days a week, no vacation pay, no benefits, and the absolute torture of having to listen to fucking Weird Al or the most overplayed 80’s music of all time.
I am fucking done. I care about the families and community I have striven to build friendships and relationships with. Helping my students with autism, being there for people in abusive relationships, helping a small business build their rep.
I haven’t been paid on time for the 5th time in less than 6 months. Scraping by and having my entire schedule worked around a job that doesn’t even fucking pay me has killed my soul. My car is falling apart. I can’t move into the apartment I was supposed to. I can’t even afford to buy myself a bathing suit, which why would I when I’m working all fucking day and can’t even go to the water? Enough is enough.
This community gave me the push I needed, and I hope everyone experiencing this type of shit knows they are not alone.
