I’ve been the team’s top performer for months, management decided I needed more workload

I work at a manufacturing site in which I basically solve problems all day, every day. Every department has people assigned for this exact purpose: identify issues, implement instant impact corrective actions and plan preventive actions. I'm the company's top performer and have had the best response times for months. I've also been documenting my work process and train other people for everyone to do a better job. I also go the extra mile, work +65 hours per week with no OT pay, which I didn't care for because I like my job and know I gotta climb the corporate ladder.

However, this week, some manager in another continent decided I needed more workload as he believed me being the top performer meant I didn't have as much to do as worse performers.

My boss, who's on my side, tried to defend me to this manager and told him I often work late and get things done. He didn't care. My boss didn't know what to say and I just calmly said to her that I'm done going the extra mile. I know it's not her fault, but I won't be taken advantage of. I'll do my job under these new terms, but that's it. Management wants to send me to the graveyard shift, to which I calmly refused. Their reasoning is that “they need someone that can solve issues when everyone else is asleep and that someone is me, I'm their guy and I need to be a team player” I told my boss in confidence that if I get transferred to the graveyard shift, I was going to start looking for another job. I told her that out of respect and because honestly she's been an amazing boss and I've got nothing against her.

It's just sad.
