I'm located in Ontario if anyone knows the laws here. So I worked in roofing for a sub-contractor for a few days until I had to give up since an old injury apparently came back and forced me to stop. Now it's been almost a month since and my employer still hasn't paid me, even after multiple contacts with him. The pay was supposed to be under the table, cash or cheque, and I'm supposed to have specialized cards to allow me to work at heights which I don't have. Is there anything I can do legally to make him pay me? I know in Ontario the Ministry of Labor could help in usual circumstances, but since it was “under the table” I wonder if they would still help. I can go back to the clients I worked with and ask them to be witnesses to the fact that I did work for the contractor, if I need to build a court case. Feel free to ask more questions if some info is missing. Thanks!
