Being lazy can make you work smarter !

So I work in a Hotel as night shift, the front desk is at ground level and I have to leave it to go prepare the breakfast in the morning which is at the first floor, which means that I have to go check every 5 minutes downstairs if there's anyone at the entrance door or the front desk since I can't hear or see anything from the first floor. I have an old phone at home that I kept for years instead of throwing away.

I've come with the idea that if I make a video-call with my phone and my old phone, I could keep an eye and an ear on what's going on at the front desk while not having to ever leave the breakfast room.

I'm 1 month in this job and it baffles me that the 2 old night shift guys that trained me who worked there for 8 years never had this idea before and were just ok with the idea to do things quick as fuck and losing time to check downstairs every 5 minutes.

I feel like a fucking genius.

Feel free to share your own moments when you've made your work easier by being lazy af.
