I applied for an internal position with another division within the company. The hiring contact reached out to me this week asking if I had notified my manager about my application. I responded that I had not notified them. (I didn’t mention this to the want them… but I didn’t want my manager to think I was actively searching for another job.) This was the hiring team’s response… “Unfortunately, our recent policy revision requires to contact your direct manager to notify them our your application. We can continue the application process once you have spoken with your manager.”.
WTF?! Is that even legal?!
