I’ve been playing phone tag with the recruiter from Vivint for the past week. We finally managed to get in contact on Thursday and he was very complementary about my résumé. After we talked a little bit about my experience And where I see my career trajectory over the next 5-10 years. I should mention I’m a very qualified PM, an expert in my field leading dev ops initiatives from inception to completion. My résumé talks about all of that including how I interact with C-levels on a daily basis. Then comes the offer—a role as a customer service representative making $8/hr. Guys, that’s a 80% pay cut. I know it was a bad idea to do this, but I lit into him. I asked him point blank “based on my 20 years in corporate America, what makes you think that I would want a position that pays a little over a minimum wage? Did you really look at my resume? Do you understand my expertise? Is English not a language that you comprehend? Are you really that bad at your job? Please do not waste mine or anyone else’s time with offers of positions like this again.”
