Planning to work a traumatizing job just to survive.

I'm currently not working as 1) I'm dont have a reliable form of transportation 2) I doing voluntary summer classes so I can get ahead in school (HS to be specific) and have a good college application I've wanted to be an artist, mechanic, or SOMETHING that involves me fix/creating with my own two hands. It's what I'm good at. But I ya'know… need to eat So my main course of action rn is EMT -> Paramedic -> hospital/ER nurse And I do love helping people. I know I can do this. My parents were both in the medical field at one point. (Dad EMT, Mom Surgerical Tech) But I KNOW those jobs are traumatizing. I KNOW at one point there will be someone who dies while in my care I KNOW this. But it'll pay well enough for me to eat, and I'll get at least SOME satisfaction from…

I've wanted to be an artist, mechanic, or SOMETHING that involves me fix/creating with my own two hands. It's what I'm good at.

But I ya'know… need to eat

So my main course of action rn is EMT -> Paramedic -> hospital/ER nurse

And I do love helping people. I know I can do this.
My parents were both in the medical field at one point. (Dad EMT, Mom Surgerical Tech)

But I KNOW those jobs are traumatizing.
I KNOW at one point there will be someone who dies while in my care
I KNOW this.

But it'll pay well enough for me to eat, and I'll get at least SOME satisfaction from doing it.

And I'm on the right course for this. But would I be happier struggling to pay rent but working a job I love and getting traumatized isn't the work description??

I hate that this society has made it so jobs that aren't “office jobs” or emergency jobs aren't valued.

Things like art take YEARS of work and dedication to “master” even then someone can always improve in one aspect or another. And it's EVERYWHERE. Every logo, building, phone, piece of clothing, tin can, HELL even garbage bins!! All of those required one form of artist or another.

This is mainly a rant. I hate getting told “you won't make much off art” because it's stupid, and partially true.
