Hello, I am a massage therapist for a small company that works with disabilities. I also am freelance, and have a second job working at a spa. I have quite a large group of clients working independently, and thats where most of my money comes from.
This small company was started by a woman who cannot hold her **** together. It’s unorganized, and every person she has hired as an assistant to help this company has quit. I have worked here for about a year now, and every month I am told I am going to get paid, and yet I havent seen a single check in my name.
I found out recently that my boss is currently in a legal battle with an insurance company from one of the clients, and the payout is supposedly “huge” and my boss told me she will be able to pay me after its over.
I can understand, this woman is running this entire company by herself. Shes going to court by herself, filing records by herself; But she refuses to hire a person who can handle some of her workload because every assistant she has had quit on the spot. (Theres only a few of us that work directly under her). I am wondering if I should wait it out, and see if I get paid. I am already planning to quit soon because this year has been hell for everyone, and working with this unorganized company is just stressing me out more. I have a hard time being confrontational, as you can tell from working a year without getting paid. I have kept a record of this years earnings that she owes me, so I know the exact amount.
I need help! I dont know anything about anything and this is tax filing season!!! What do I do?
