What are your most remarkable experiences when it comes to this?
The third time I quit, it was odd because my manager was located in another country. He was actually nice and congratulated me for working towards my ambitions (I was leaving to do graduate studies abroad). However, there was also a guy who acted like representative of my manager in my location and he was livid. I didn’t take orders from him but he was involved in my hiring and had to sign my HR paperwork.
I could tell he was mad when I saw him getting the news from my manager. That day he stayed mostly in his office so it wasn’t hard to avoid him.
At some point, I had to go give the news to the workers who reported to him. They didn’t take it badly and were curious about my plans. I was still explaining, when I feel their manager stepping behind me. He first said something like:
-“What an a**hole you turned out to be”-
And then he raised his voice and kept insulting me.
I got so nervous from this, but I did my best to stay calm and I just ignored him and kept talking to the others until he left.
Fortunately, he didn’t confront me again after that. Everyone liked him in the office so I didn’t feel that reporting him would do anything.
