Since we can’t get homes or housing in normal ways, should millennials colonize ghost towns?

I am willing to bet if you rounded up all the disabled, single parents, and NEETs in your area you would have enough people to resettle in some abandoned ghost town. It might be on some island, some fortress, or far away from civilization but for those willing to live off the grid it might be a decent idea. Because of laws about adverse possession, these buildings are basically up for grabs if you stay in them long enough. And you most likely would not even need to leave the state you are currently in since America has so many empty deserted towns. In theory police would evict people but who is going to call the pigs in a ghost town provided it doesn't have tourists or a caretaker? This is literally free real estate.
