toxic overworking culture

Just started a new job as a postdoctoral researcher. The work itself is great but Jesus christ it has a toxic culture of overworking. I'm paid for 39 hours a week but I work 60 on average. And it's because it's a 'team' where everyone leaves together. On paper it sounds fine but I usually get home at around 10pm. The other departments leave at 4pm. Holidays ? The department except ours has summer holidays – we're expected to stay because it's when it's quiet so we're able to be productive. We are told to stay in school in oder to get a good job. Well, I stayed in school, did my phd, graduated with distinction and I regret it – education is overrated.
