so I will try and keep this brief. I started a new job doing basic office work for a pest control service in NY state. I was told i would be completely taking over duties in December for the lady there who will be taking a leave of absence for pregnancy.
I started learning all of the basics on Wednesday and come the end of Friday the owner, was not happy that we have been mostly sitting around waiting for customers to call and that we haven't been that productive since there is literally nothing to do from 9 to 5.
At the interview i was asked if i wanted to become a tech or had any interest in that particular job. I declined this initially, was told i would essentially be offered the tech job again but would not be working in the office. im guessing until my coworker takes her leave.
I never applied or had any interest in that type of work and have been more focused on working in a office setting.
I plan on reaffirming that no i do not want to be a pest control technician. I fear that this is going to leave me without a job and am unsure if i could even get any unemployment.
Has anyone had a similar experience and what would be somethings i should do in order to try and keep my new job or ensure that i can get unemployment while i search for a new job?
