My past year and some change in Taiwan

So in May of 2021 after months of prep I moved from America to Taiwan. FYI I teach English. My first job was an absolute scam as I wasn't aware of the going rates here. I worked 45 hours a week and only made $400 a month after paying my employer some “debts”. Everyone else quit after my first month there. I was alone and all their work was dumped on me, who wasnt properly trained. I was miserable typical emotionally charged work environment. I had to mediate a beef between said coworkers prior to them quitting and “fix the family”. I quit as well by October and had to pay them more than I ever made working there. Moved cities and never looked back. My second job was much better pay $2,500 a month, 40hrs/wk. I liked the classes but they were obsessed with being besties in and out…

I liked the classes but they were obsessed with being besties in and out of work. That's a no for me after 4 months they let me go for being “cold and disruptive to the environment”. I don't drink or party so it was fine. The emotional manipulation was too much.

The third job was a new place with barely any students, I had 9 in the entire shift. I was there 10 hours and day 6.5 spent doing nothing for $2,000 a month. This boss would yell and scream at me like a child. Steal pay for any reason and micromanage everything. After 1.5 months I quit, and so did my co-workers, we really tried to mediate. He straight up told us he didn't respect us.

I took 2 months to find a new job. This was through a recruiter. I make the same as the last place but only work 17 hrs/wk. I don't have to talk to my coworker the boss is nice and I don't have to be there doing nothing. A win for me on all fronts. Sucks how long it took but I finally can have my cake and eat it too.
