Watching RLCS in the U.K. tonight and one of the relentless adverts is for 7-11. 7-11 does not operate in the U.K.
I’m not getting into the potential implications of the content of the advert just the last three words. In an upbeat happy voice –
TIP YOUR DRIVER!
Why 7-11? Why do your drivers need tips? Do you not pay them enough to not rely on tips? Why are you even asking people to tip your employees? Is it maybe because you, a billion dollar company, don’t pay them enough?
Tips are for service over and above not for doing your job every day. I have been a pizza delivery driver and worked many years in delivery. Drivers are happy to accept tips but not as supplemental pay. You, a billion dollar company, asking customers to tip suggests your employees are not paid properly.
Don’t you have a time guarantee so that you shoulder the responsibility and customer service of deliveries getting there on time?
Or are you making it seem that if an order gets to the customer quicker it’s the responsibility of the driver and the driver should be paid extra for that?
What if the delivery is late or wrong for any reason and the driver doesn’t get a tip? Do you adjust their wages when they don’t get any tips?
I don’t even live in the US and you’ve already made me hate you and not want to order from you. 7-11 you suck! What a save!
