Why do recruiters get so much hate?

At the end of the day recruiters are just workers trying to make it like the rest of us. I see so many posts of people being extremely rude to them and I just feel like that's really not necessary. If you aren't interested just politely decline/don't answer. It's a way more mentally exhausting role than I think people realize.
