I got a job working presages for insurance. The training was so terrible, it's difficult to even put into words. 8 weeks of remote training for one aspect of a system as outdated as it is complicated. We're literally working on a Windows 95 style application. They moved on to the next subject before we solidified any information from the previous one, so by the time we got out on the floor we were handholding an already swamped production team.
The day to day is WAY OVERCOMPLICATED. So many steps, applications, and people to exchange information with, an infinite amount of tiny things to remember for every line of coverage… it's not a wonder training was a nightmare – there's no way to effectively teach this knotted mess of a system. Fucking nursing school was easier than this! Now that I'm out of training, I'm seeing that this job is grossly underpaid. I live in California, and they pay 50k a year. For the amount of hoops we have to jump through and a disjointed management team with conflicting workplace ideals, it's not worth it.
I'm have my first child in November and this will let me work completely remote with a doctor's signature and provide me with maternity leave and benefits that I need while having a baby. But beyond that, is my only option to leave? How do you notify upper management that this role is grossly disproportionate to the pay??
