Having moonshot goals because of an increasingly tougher job market.

Does anyone know a person like this? They want to get out of the paycheck grind, and see the job market getting more unforgiving each day, as many of us do here. But their plan to escape it is to get into a high-risk career in the entertainment industry. So the rewards can be high, but the chances of success are very, very low. Is it reasonable to see this kind of aspiration growing? I just hope he's prepared to get disappointed and depressed a lot more, because he would be hopping from a hard life making close to minimum wage, to a hard life fighting against odds for the very slim chance of “blowing up” in the entertainment industry, when he hasn't proven he's got the right network to help make it happen. I'm just being a realist here, if you want to be a millionaire, gotta prepare for…

I'm just being a realist here, if you want to be a millionaire, gotta prepare for failures. Otherwise, why continue torturing yourself and not have a plan B? Or is this being rationalized by “fuck it I'm already getting screwed by business, how worse can it get in the grind to the top” point of view? He can do fine attempting other better paying jobs that aren't even high and mighty either, without first beating himself up over one of the toughest ones. I think he's just too caught up in the shiny that it makes him believe he'll be a loser for taking anything else. I want to convince him that there are more good options.
