Summer 2021
-Coworker 1 is constantly late and decides to come and go as she pleases.
-The owner Hires 2 new employees (one sale and one hybrid sale and truck)
-Owner tells me it wouldn't affect me and asked me what I wanted for hours and I said full time.
-Owner tells me Coworker 1 will be let go.
Sept 2021
-New sales quit because of unfair qualifying of customers (Coworker 1 and Manager hoarding customers)
-Owner talks to me. My hours were reduced. Then tells me I can't be average or id be terminated.
-Current employed new sales (Coworker 2) gets equal hours than I.
-Coworker 1 gets hours reduced as she prefers.
Oct 2021
-Truck worker gets injured Coworker 2 is on the truck
-I get full-time hours back
Late Dec 21 / Early Jan 22
-Coworker 2 is injured
-Coworker 2 is “offered” another job.
-I confront the Owner with the drama about Coworker 2 getting paid health insurance and how it's unfair for the older employees. The owner tells me he isn't.
-Coworker 2 gets more hours than Coworker 1 and I.
-As I am closing I find a conspicuous job hiring information. This appeared to be a resume from Facebook. There's a note that states the person being interviewed is Mexican. Note I am the only person of color he had hired in the 5+ years I had been there.
-I ask for more hours. So, I went from 40 hrs to 28 hrs to 33 hrs and still needed to maintain my sales.

I verbally warn the Owner that Competition has offered me a job. I ask him what he could offer me and it wasn't up to the same standards. I think I recall him offering me 36 hours and free health insurance and him doing so by reimbursing me in my checks. I offered may be of a similar standard and he declined. We both agreed on the Competition would be the best option for me, but I told him I would make a final decision the following Monday.
Jan 24, 2022
I gave Owner my card for resignation. The day continues as normal. I asked Owner if I could have the week of Feb 5-6. He approved considering I told the Owner in advance and Coworker 2 is supposed to rotate weekends with me.
Feb 7, 2022
First day at Competition.
Old company events as I was gone
-Coworker 1, Coworker 2, and Warehouse Manager all get Covid
-Manager goes on vacation is back on 2/22
-Coworker 2 goes to a mental hospital
Feb 13, 2022, Super Bowl Sunday
Owner texted me he was hiring and I told him I would come in the following morning with my lists and demands.
Feb 15, 2022
I review my rough draft lists and demands and he approves them all. He did fight the sign-on bonus probably because he saw my scribbles, but I stood my ground because of the difference in the 2 paychecks in the first weeks of the new job. So I write out a formal contract with everything he previously approved. So I my new title was Store Assistant Manager.
Feb 16, 2022
I sign termination papers with Competition because I wouldn't be able to work for the competition at the same time. I hand the Owner my formal contract and told him I wanted it signed by the end of the day. He says, ok. I leave and he calls me telling me the next day he will be in his hometown with his attorney for his divorce. He continues to tell me that “Old Company” likes me and that he has no problem signing them as long as I fill in for everyone for the weekend.
Feb 17, 2022
Owner is still at the store. Constantly on his phone like always. I remind him about the contract and he keeps telling me he's about to leave. Until I tell him he doesn't have all day. Then he sits down and tells me his attorney's wife was in a head-on car accident. He also adds that he probably won't talk to his attorney until Monday at divorce court. The day before the Manager comes back. Now I am not a heartless person so I gave him an extra day. Even though I offered to review it with him.
Feb 18, 2022
In the morning I tell Owner that I wanted the contract signed by 4pm. As time goes on in the day I see Owner doing interviews and by 4pm he had someone hired. Note the new person hired is a white female in my same age range. I am also female. When it was time to go over the contract. In the meeting, we had previously agreed on everything. I did surprise him with the 6mo salary if i were to be fired without cause. He reduced it to 2 weeks when we already get 2 months. So I told him I were to reduce it down to 3 mo. I was also told in a conversation a year ago that because of the delay of furniture because of covid I should be reimbursed for what I have sold. This was to keep us doing our job because we are 100% commission. He also declined my 1-month unpaid vacation that we previously agreed to.
After the owner rejected my offer I called the competition to hire me back. They are only considering it. So I'm currently unemployed.
