I’ve been at my current company for years, they’ve spent the pandemic calling us heroes and superstars, but continue to only give bare minimum pay raises as required by our union contract. We are allowed to WFH 2 days/week, but with inflation, I’m making less now than when I started.
I’ve been looking for something better for a few months now and found a position in perfect for. It’s not union, but I’d be back doing what I love and managing a team. After 3 extensive interviews, they offered me the position. After all the fluff, they finally got to the salary…
It’s a pittance. Barely more than I’m currently making, but working 100% on-site with way more responsibility. I’ll be responsible for retention, and if they’re low-balling me, that means they’re probably underpaying the team I’ll inherit.
I’m really conflicted; stay miserable and stagnant where I’m at with union protection, or walk into what could be great or could potentially be a hot mess without it?
