Yesterday the director at the daycare I work at told me that based on my performance they would terminate me but, because of my lack of experience in day care and lack of training they were going to keep me another month.
Then she told me it wasn’t my fault, the teacher I work with is mostly at fault and to scrap the review. A few criticisms were not using the app to record when kids come and go (my main teacher did this) not cleaning enough or properly and asserting myself as an assistant teacher so kids will listen to me when they have to clean up or go to me when they’re injured. I like the main teacher I work with but sometimes she cuts corners (not cleaning all the time, not using the bleach to clean etc) it’s starting to affect my performance because I’m copying whatever she’s doing.
The next day, the director told me that she was going to give me more responsibilities like keeping track when kids come in and out of school and taking photos of them doing activities. It seemed like from my conversation with her during my break she liked my idea about using my phone notes to keep track of kids attendance when I’m away from the attendance book. I also can’t help but wonder if giving me more responsibilities is the right way to fix this situation. Sorry if it feels like I’m rambling but I’m hoping this sub can give me some advice/comments about this situation.
