As a recruiter for the past 10 years, I have seen the consistent lack of follow up and unprofessionalism in my field. This ranges from a long list of moral inconsistencies such as being instructed to blacklist candidates (yes it happens, and we don’t have to tell you), and ghosting candidates in the middle of the interview process without any correspondence. So I chose to do something about it (naturally). Last month, I created multiple decoy accounts that would apply for jobs within a 500 mile radius of my home to various job boards. The interview requests immediately started flooding in, so I created a spreadsheet to track every company, the recruiter, and their agency/company information (you know, like we do with you when you apply for a job). This ranges from a long list of moral inconsistencies such as being instructed to blacklist candidates (yes it happens, and we don’t have to tell you), and ghosting candidates in the middle of the interview process without any correspondence.

So I chose to do something about it (naturally).

Last month, I created multiple decoy accounts that would apply for jobs within a 500 mile radius of my home to various job boards. The interview requests immediately started flooding in, so I created a spreadsheet to track every company, the recruiter, and their agency/company information (you know, like we do with you when you apply for a job).

For each Recruiter who ghosts the interview, does not follow up, reschedules more than once, or closes a job before an interview is scheduled, their information will be logged, and (after a determined period of time) will be made available for the public to see.
