So we live in a condo with a condo board made up of old white people who have long since retired from the workforce. They have absolutely no clue about the workforce or a decent wage.
Anyway, my husband (who works two other jobs) takes care of the maintenance for the building and very small green space. The condo board is paying $500 a month for this. Problem is, people are fucking disgusting and have no respect for shared spaces. His job has gotten ten times harder because of this and he's been spending a lot longer cleaning up after people.
So he asked for a raise. He asked for $1000 a month. The people on the condo board FREAKED OUT. I have no fucking idea why, but this has turned into quite the scandal. My husband pretty much said to either give him a raise or he quits. Funny thing is, no one else wants to do the job because it fucking sucks and the pay is terrible.
I'm “friends” with the condo board president. She came over to ask me to “talk some sense into your husband”. I essentially told her, you get what you pay for. You're desperate for someone to do the job, $1000 is the cost of my husband's labor. Deal with it, or you can pay an actual company to do the maintenance and they will charge you ten times more. This bitch actually said that no one wants to work anymore and the previous guy did it for $500 so my husband should be grateful.
I was losing my patience so I told her that the board isn't paying my husband enough to care and he also works two other jobs that actually pay him properly. The board needs him, he doesn't need this stupid maintenance job.
Pretty sure I burned the bridge with the condo board, but I actually don't care. I don't tolerate people being that disrespectful to my husband. I'm so tired of these privileged old fucks screwing over the younger generation. They actually still think they have the bargaining power in this situation!
