Alright let's set the stage. Like so many others I started a new position in the midst of COVID lockdown. This company is so well known, thst 93% of the readers will have one of our products in their home. Anywho, back in May 22' the bosses all decided we needed to come back to the office and I warned them opening to fast would result in an influx of new COVID cases, especially as there was no mask requirement or adaptation of the hybrid return protocol.
Since then, despite my continued warnings, 2 dozen people had contracted COVID between reopening May 2nd and 2 weeks ago. See despite my screaming that a gathering offsite was just a bad decision, the bosses held a function at a famous local park for the employees and their families. Well, I didn't go and cited that I did not want to attend a superspreader event, and as I told them, it was.
The office will be closed for the next two weeks while they sanitize the building and the employees who all got caught covid can recover. When HR called me this past weekend, I'm on the security council of my workplace, to inform me of what occured, the only thing I could muster in response to the results and the forced closure was a smug thank you.
Because I told them so, and they treated me like an asshole for it. They all treated me like shit for continuing to encourage mask usage, social distancing and for leading by example and never wavering use of my mask and observed COVID protocols.
