I hope this is the right sub for this post. Apologies if it's not. This is more of a vent than anything.
This is something that I just can't handle anymore. A guy I work with is so fucking lazy it's literally making me ill. He is in his late 30s, morbidly obese and he stinks so bad he makes everyone want to vomit. We are all paid hourly, however he does absolutely nothing. From the moment he clocks in till the moment he clocks out he doesn't lift a finger, unless its to eat something. His laziness is so bad that I have been contracted extra hours purely to pick up his slack.
Now you may be wondering, why not just inform your line manager? Oh he knows how bad the situation is. He just does nothing about it. Everyone has complained about him and yet none of the managers will do a single solitary thing about him.
I know his weight and his incredibly poor hygiene are a very sensitive subject, but it should be your job as a manager to ensure all of your collegues are suitable for work. If he isn't just standing around picking his nose or scratching his arse and sniffing his fingers, he's usually eating out of the waste bin, which is his job to record and discard in the waste bags.
He angers me and the rest of the team so much. And despite all of this he is still paid exactly the same as the rest of us. When he is leaning against the wall out the back, scrolling through Amazon or some other shit, my manager will just stroll past him and not even bat a single eyelid. However, if myself or anyone else stops to have a sip of water, or just to take a two minute breather “Working hard, are we? Time to lean, time to clean. Have you guys actually done any work today?” It's complete bullshit. Why are we forced to break our backs when this dipshit gets to just clock in, do fuck all and leave again.
My manager even agreed to let him leave work early so he can catch his bus home, and pay him for his full shift… But he leaves sometimes up to an hour early! The bus stop is literally a 2 minute walk from the shop! But he will leave an hour early, go get a KFC and then just sit at the bus stop and wait for about 50 mins or so while the rest of us remain at work, suffering.
