Just venting

Just venting about a former employer. The CEO does not seem to view her employees as humans, much less treat them as such. Just venting about a former employer. The CEO does not seem to view her employees as humans, much less treat them as such. The A/C unit in the store broke over the summer, and even though it regularly got to over 100 degrees in the store and made working conditions hellish, the CEO refused to shell out the few hundred dollars to repair it until months later. They expect employees to arrive 15 minutes before their shift starts AND to do work during that time, but will not let them clock in or pay you them it. If an employee is even one minute late, they are denied any tips they receive for the day, and the same goes for dress code violations. Because of constantly being short-staffed, any part time employees also got scheduled for many more hours than they had requested. Employees are forbidden from requesting off for certain holidays. Management will promise staff promotions for months on end, and assign them all of the responsibilities associated with those promotions without ever actually giving them the position or raise to go with it. The CEO full-on screamed at and insulted a co-worker of mine for sitting down while on the clock. Management randomly changed the dress code and expected employees to pay for any new clothes required by it out of their own pockets. All of this, and they still only pay employees $7.25/hr, which increases to $7.50 after a year. And then they wonder why they're struggling to keep any employees around.
