I don’t know if this is the right sub, but what the hell.
I have been in my role for 2 years and was given my supervisors responsibilities last year, without a raise or anything additional to compensate me for it. I received a fantastic annual review at the end of the year and I asked for a raise. Also of note, my boss makes more than double what I make.
My boss said HR would research the “going rate” for this job and get back to me on their findings. Trouble is, my role doesn’t really exist anywhere else, so I don’t know how they are “researching” anything relative.
Also, this was all 6-7 months ago and I haven’t hear anything back. Due to the unique nature of my job, I could quit and leave them painfully hanging. But on the flip side, I don’t know if I’d find anything else any time soon! And yes, I am the primary provider in my family, house, kids, spouse etc.
I could try to check in with my boss and see how the “research” is going, or should I try to conduct my own and then present a number to them? I am faced with the same research struggles that they would also have.
Anyone have any ideas!?!
Edit: I am paid what is considered a “good” wage, but far below the value I am providing to the organization
