Hate working for people so I’m trying to become my own boss

I’m 22 and have been working as a lifeguard since I was 17, before that a badge checker since 15 at the same facility. I absolutely hate dealing with my bosses- every boss I’ve had here was catty and nasty and only wanted the people beneath them to fail. My mom works in an office for an HOA and her bosses are horrible to her- she got threatened by one of them because she found a financial discrepancy that proved he’d been stealing money, luckily she threatened to leave and since she is valuable they gave her a raise to stay, but now she’s miserable working for these people in a job she now can’t afford to leave. I’ve recently found a dog grooming school near me and that’s something I can afford to do right now. I figure I can start my own business and be my own boss. Has anyone on this sub done something similar? Is this the way out I’m hoping it is? Would love some feedback before I sink money into this
