Today I finally put in my two week notice at my job. For some context I work at a family owned law firm as there sole web dev. The job is alright nothing too demanding but the boss Jane (not her real name) was a hot head and micro manager. You couldn’t make any change to a plan unless she said yes but she would never disclose her schedule with anyone so it was hard to get her approval on anything. If anything bad happened in their lawyer work she would turn visibly red and at times scream at people! Here’s my favorite quote from her
“You guys need to loose your egos im screaming because no one can set up this stupid computer” the IT is outsourced so the computer couldn’t be connected to the network properly.
But I didn’t mind this as it didn’t really affect me, my breaking point was when they promised on 3 different occasions to discuss pay and all three times I was met with “we never discussed that” and when I transitioned over to salary and tried to leave 2 hours early due to me waiting on notes that I knew I wouldn’t receive until the EOD or the next day I was told I would be docked from my pay. I get that salary is tricky but we never discussed expectations and what pushed me over was she said that “salary is when your expected to work over 40 even 50 hours regularly “. I felt lied too and taken advantage off.
Now I have put in my two weeks and the only person that said anything was the father he owns the place and he’s a class act but the sister and brother have not even looked at me!
Best to say I’m not gonna miss it here 🫡
