Lurker for a while but I still don’t want to believe policies that should help workers can be twisted so much. I just got let go from my job due to (what seems like their fault) an improper filing of FMLA. They had me get this filled out for a period of time in which I had tested positive for COVID. I also work with geriatric patients very closely so of course I took the work week off. Not trying to kill your grandparents.
However, I also have fibromyalgia and while I haven’t had a flare up for years-I got a debilitating one that took me out for two days this last week. (Partially due to the extreme stress and increased workload they had dropped on us within the last 2 months. But also anxiety and depression made worse by the loss of a close family member recently.)
They informed me via email that I need FMLA for COVID week but during my termination meeting they stated it should’ve been for the chronic condition. They’ve made good use of labor loopholes when it comes to no breaks or lunch-guess I should’ve seen this coming too.
Was planning on joining the great resignation later this month anyway though. It’s time this shit changes. So very over it.
