So I work a retail job. I worked at the same location last year, and left to go to school. I come back, and nearly all my old coworkers have left (except two people). The new store manager is nice?? I guess.
I don't know what's happened in the last month, but she's started being WEIRD about the break policy. Typically, if you worked a 4 hour shift, you got a 15 minute break somewhere in there. If you worked a 6 hour shift, you got a 30.
But now?? She's telling us that we've all been doing it wrong, and it's supposed to be 4 or more hours and 6 or more hours. The other day I worked a 6 hour and 15 minute shift. I asked whether I got a fifteen or a thirty and she didn't actually answer and said I was “on the cusp”. So I took a fifteen. Lo and behold I check my schedule, and I had a 30 blocked out. So now I'm trying to figure out if she's shorting breaks because all us kids are going back to school and/or quitting or if it genuinely was supposed to be like that. Either way, it sucks.
