Let’s waste the interviewers time too

So over the weekend I was bored at work, so I started applying to a few different jobs on indeed and also at a few other well known companies to see if there was any jobs that interest me. Low and behold come Monday and I’m being bombarded with calls through out the day and I now have 6 interviews scheduled throughout the week; which kind of left me optimistic, but also worried to as why there was so many companies desperate to give me an interview, even though during the past I’d be lucky to get 1 interview during the week.

One manager in particular basically begged me for an interview. I received a text from a manager from a moving company. To which I have nearly over 3 years of prior experience in that industry and over my tenure there I received raises that put me at $17 hourly (plus tips), compared to the $13 hourly(plus tips) I started off by improving at a rapid pace and producing almost at the same productivity as my boss and my main lead all while being reliable, also my powerlifting background played a slight role. A few minutes later me and the manager from the moving company started talking on the phone and one of my first questions was how much they were paying, to which he stated $12 hourly, and the company gives you a percentage of the tips instead of the whole amount. I then proceeded to tell him about my experience and previous wage; and even mentioned he could look up my previous company on Google and see my name pop up on a few 5 star reviews. He then replied that we could possibly talk about starting me out at $13 hourly during our interview tomorrow morning at 8am, which was when the office opened. So I’m assuming prior to him saying this, he had this picture in his head thinking I was desperate and would take anything? Idk

After getting more annoyed as I stayed on the phone, I just lied and said my work schedule wouldn’t align for me to have an interview during the morning so he could would stop pursuing, to which he replied saying that he could show up early to the office for an interview. Wondering how far I could push this, I asked him what’s the earliest he could do, to which he said 6:30. I told him that’s perfect and I’d be there.

It’s now an hour until I’m supposed to show up and I’m still wishing I could see his face when he finds out that he got ghosted and I made him lose out on sleep and wasted his time. (:

TLDR; company calls me and lowballs me despite my previous experience and wage. I scheduled and interview and ghosted them.
