Boss yelling at me for texting at 9pm

So, I was hired at this job at a dog boarding place back in early June. When they asked my availability, I said any day after 12pm. Well, as of last month I've been getting scheduled 6am shifts and I haven't gone to any of them as I'm not available. I tried making it right with one if my supervisors but she ignored me. The response I got was “Its absolutely inappropriate for you to be texting me at this time of night. You can either request time off or write me a note.” Both of these things I need to be clocked in to do… so I guess I have a pissed off boss and I'm going to be missing my next 2 shifts. Might get fired but I don't care.

Amd lesson learned, don't text your boss at 9pm. That leads to the question, when IS the appropriate time to text them?
