A lot of travelers are here at Pearson airport YYZ around 1:30AM as people are lining up early due to the constant and long delays at YYZ airport. My flight is at 7AM and I got to the airport 5 hours early but unfortunately the gate doesn’t open till 4:30AM which is 2 hours before my boarding time and for others who fly out at 6PM which is 1 hour before their boarding time. There are approximately 30 flight leaving YYZ between 6-7AM and let’s say 30-40 travelers per flight and that will be at least 1000 travelers to be processed by customs and gate agents in 2 hours or 8-9 people per minute. This does not include extra you need to line up to check in your baggage. Now I understand not having security and customs worker here from 12AM to 4:30AM can save the airport some $$$ but with the constant delays at YYZ airport I’m not sure if this move makes sense. If the airport has workers working and checking travelers in as they show up maybe YYZ won’t be the worst airport in the world due to delays.
