The small company i work for which recorded a turnover of approx 2 million over the last accounting year is experiencing an exodus and is now in turmoil. Over the last few months all the young people (under 25) have left and replacements can’t be found. Even if you work hard as a young person what can you actually show for it? Salaries are low and the cost of living is so high. Buying a house is practically impossible if you’re single which is becoming increasingly common as a young person because no one is settling down due to inflated egos and unlimited options seen in dating apps. What doesn’t help as well are the boomers controlling the workplace through horrible micromanagement and still preaching the unflexible 9-5. I think they’ll be huge recruitment issues over the next few years, especially in offices and we’ll see more people venturing into trade and public services. I know this isn’t exclusive to young people as the people i worked with in there 30s also shared these thoughts except they can’t take more risks because they are tied down by more financial responsibilities with mortgages and bills etc.
